Why Parallel Events?

The Jogja Biennale, an international event, is held in the special administrative region of Yogyakarta. The city has a strong academic culture and is a rich source of ideas and independent initiatives which emerge from formal institutions as well as informal groups.

They work in specific scientific fields, from developing the people’s economy, developing the quality of the environment, protecting cultural heritage, increasing the quality of human interaction based on pluralism, studying and exchanging culture, documenting archives, and others.
