In this panel discussion, speakers will share their experiences participating in womens’ movements, activism, and entangled arts practices in Southeast Asia and Korea between the 1980s to the present day. While cultural networks in the region have benefited from diplomatic channels and exchanges, womens’ issues are still marginalised.

What are the historical and contemporary cultural, economic, and political issues shared between women’s art movements in Korea and Southeast Asia? How has the art ecosystem marginalised the presence of women artists? How does the experience of each speaker help us to understand how to navigate activism and advocacy within statist boundaries? These are some of the questions that will be highlighted by our speakers.
