Want to learn how to bake your own naan bread in a traditional Afghani tannoor oven and at the same time support refugees in Indonesia?
Join us this Saturday, 23 October, from 13.00–15.00 hrs at JNM for a special workshop by ‘A Pond is the Reverse of an Island’ members Timbil Budiarto and Mumtaz Khan Chopan. Whilst kneading dough, baking naan, grilling chicken and veg, tasting and eating, you will learn more about ‘A Pond…’, the Afghani kitchen, the migratory history of the tannoor oven, and about the precarious situation of refugees in Indonesia, the majority of whom come from Afghanistan.
To join the workshop, we ask you to contribute Rp.200.000,- (or more). These funds will be used to establish a fund in support of the self-run school at Kalideres refugee camp in Jakarta, providing education for the 30+ children and 150+ adults who have no access to schooling in Indonesia otherwise.
We ask you to wear a mask at all times, wash your hands regularly and bring your own drink(s). We hope you’ll join us! RSVP here: 085815675937 (Namira)
