Asep Nayak
Born in Wamena, January 1999. He is a student of broadcasting and photography. Every day, after coming home from campus, Asep often continues his activities by hunting photos. In the evening, he will spend time with the Fruity Loop software to create Wisisi tones.
For Asep, as he’s often called, photography is his second interest pursued academically, after the self-taught music. To hone his second interest, he joined a photography community whose members hailed from several regions such as Java Island, West Papua, and several others who at least had never lived in Papua. In this community that’s based on social media Facebook, Asep then exhibited his work. However, what catapulted his name was his first interest, so he was involved in the Biennale Jogja (BJ) XVI Equator #6 2021.
Not only was there to hit the JNM stage to close the opening night of the Biennale Jogja, Asep also did several residencies. Those are Angki Purbandono studio, Akiq AW studio, Ruang Weed Studio, and Prontaxan studio. One of the things he studied in his residency was photography. In addition, Asep became a speaker in the Wisisi music workshop initiated by the Biennale Jogja.
