Until the twenty-fourth day of the event, the Biennale Jogja XVI Equator #6 2021 continues to present various interesting programs. This variety of programs is part of the activation of the main exhibition themed Roots < > Routes which was held at the Jogja National Museum (JNM) in collaboration with artists and collective participants. Among them is Broken Pitch & Juanga Culture.
Throughout Saturday (30/10), from dawn to dusk, JNM seemed like it was their own private place used to express themselves. The two collectives created an agenda that hit the JNM stage, which was delivered in the form of Boki Emiria Show International Performance activity, namely lecture performances, fashion shows that activated the exhibition space, and cultural performances on the JNM stage.
The title of this activity was inspired by the figure of Boki (empress) Emiria Soenassa, one of the first female artists in Indonesia, who was a descendant of the Tidore Sultanate. Emiria learned to paint by herself like most artists of her time. She studied and mingled with other artists at the Association of Indonesian Drawing Experts (Persagi). During the Japanese colonial period, Emiria was a member of the Poesat Keboedajaan (Keimin Bunko Shidoso).
As an opening act, Director of Biennale Jogja XVI Gintani Nur Apresia Swastika was invited to the stage and also involved in the opening performance. In one of the ceremonies, Gintani received betel nut and chewed it.
