The weather in Jogja was quite friendly that night, after the scorching heat during the day. The journey to Indie Art House went smoothly, though with heavy traffic. Exactly at 19.08, I set foot at the Indie Art House. There were only a handful of people and exhibition guides waiting.
“No one’s here yet?”
“Not yet. Still finishing the opening at MDTL,” answered one of the exhibition guides I met.
Not long after, visitors entered the building one by one. They rushed here after the opening at Museum and Clay or MDTL was over. The visitors that night consisted of guests with invitations. The exhibition hall, once quiet, is now bustling with visitors.
As soon as they entered the exhibition room, the words ‘Ha*ck*ng Dom*est*cit’ as the title of the Konnect Asean Korea State Chambers Exhibition, immediately greeted visitors. There were four arts on display in the form of video art, photography, and also two dimensions.
The artworks exhibited are part of Korea and Taiwan State Chambers Exhibition. They belong to Agnes Christina and Etza Meisyara. The works of these two artists are exhibited in their respective booths.
“The opening is not as big as the one at JNM. Here, it’s just like an open house,” explained Rahma as the exhibition guide at the Indie Art House.
It’s true, the night’s event was not as big as the opening for the main exhibition. Only a few invited artists and partners attended.
According to Rahma, the arts exhibited at the Korean Chamber Exhibition are very interesting. Contemporary works that link multiple installations and materials as well as their meaning, which reflect the history the artists lived and grew in.
The time was fifteen minutes past eight. Visitors started decreasing. The exhibition guides began to relax. Some of the visitors lingering in front of the venue were chatting casually before continuing their agenda to the Jogja National Museum.
